Days out

Hiring a boat is one of the best ways to see the island. Exploring the coastline’s rocky coves is fun and dipping into the azure blue waters a complete pleasure. Moor along-side and enjoy long lunches at the pretty waterside tavernas of Immerolia, Agios Stefanos & Kerasia. Return to the small fishing harbour of Kassiopi and enjoy an ouzo and meze at one of the harbour-side tavernas.

Acharavi’s ‘Dive Easy Club’ runs expeditions to a number of the local wrecks.

Pontikonisi Monastery

Seaside swimming

Lamari’s peaceful rural position is minutes from its nearest beach; a huge shingle and sandy crescent running along the north coast of Corfu and stretching for over a mile. The coastal track runs on to cross a narrow footbridge and continues through the bird sanctuary on Cape Agios Ekaterinis where there are numerous unspoiled sandy/rocky coves for swimming or surfing. Slightly further on is Agios Spiridon, Gerald Durrell’s ‘Beach of the White Lilies’, so inviting with its soft white sand and turquoise water.

Exploring the local Area

Quad biking from Lamari up the winding mountain road takes you through remote villages & almost 1,000 metres to the top of Pantokrator with the most spectacular views of Albania & the Greek mainland. An off-road track leads to Old Perithea, a UNESCO site and deserted village with eight churches and a number of superb tavernas. Book with Tomas who owns ‘O Foros’, a small rustic taverna & hidden gem with just a few tables in the old village square.

A trip to Corfu town

Enjoy a days boat trip to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Corfu with its meandering walkways and wonderful old Venetian architecture; truly one of the most beautiful towns in the Mediterranean.

Dimarchio Square from the top

The Museum of Asian Art has an outstanding collection & is housed in the Palace of St. Michael and St. George; it is the largest  & most significant building from the English period of occupation, which started in 1814 and ended in 1864.

Travel later in the day and dine at the superb ‘Venetian Well’ with its enchanting courtyard surrounded by hibiscus and bougainvillea.

Have an apéritif at the very French Liston which runs along the Spianada, the town’s historical and stylish meeting area; the place to promenade and soak up the evening atmosphere under the trees.
